Our store has come a long way from the basic setup we started with. It works most days, but we are beginning to notice the gaps. A slow product page is one thing. A checkout issue or stock count that is wrong is another. Those problems waste time, and customers do not hang around for long.
I am trying to get a clearer picture of what I need before I hire ecommerce developers . I would really like to hear from people who have done this, especially business owners who did not come from a technical background. What did you check first? Did you look at previous stores they had worked on, speak to former clients, or ask them to handle a small job before committing?
The part I worry about is what happens once the work starts. How do you keep communication simple, catch problems before they go live, and avoid being left without help after launch? Honest advice would be useful, even if it is a warning about what not to do.
