Alright I'll try to keep this useful rather than just rambling but I wanted to share something that's actually made a difference to my business recently, because I know a lot of people in here are in the same boat i was six months ago.
I've got a small business in Bristol and like a lot of people i built a website, felt pretty good about it, then just waited for customers to show up. Spoiler - they didn't. For nearly two years my site was just sitting there doing absolutely nothing, while my competitors were showing up all over Google and I was getting maybe one or two enquiries a month through it if I was lucky.
A mate of mine who runs a trade business told me he'd started working with a local SEO agency Bristol based and that his enquiries had basically doubled over a few months. I was a bit sceptical honestly because I've heard a lot of people throwing money at SEO and not seeing much back. But watching his business pick up while mine remained flat, eventually convinced me to at least look into it properly.
I did a fair bit of research before committing to anyone. Looked at probably five or six different agencies, had conversations with a couple of them. Eventually went with SEO Bristol Company seobristolcompany.co.uk. They're based down in Bedminster and the reason i went with them over others i spoke to was pretty simple — they actually listened. Told me what was realistically achievable, gave me a clear picture of what was wrong with my site technically and in terms of content and didn't try to lock me into some long complicated contract straight away.
They sort it all out, sort of technical SEO, on-page content, link building, Google My Business optimization. For a local business, that last bit is massively underrated by the way. Loads of local search traffic comes from Google Maps and business profiles, and most small businesses including me had basically ignored it, yeah.
It took me about three to four months before I felt anything truly steady in my rankings. Then around month five, things started clicking properly, like it finally made sense. Now I'm getting more enquiries through my website than I ever have, still growing as well, and that part was something I did not fully expect. It compounds rather than just plateauing.
If you've been on the fence about hiring an SEO Agency Bristol (or anywhere nearby), the main thing I'd say is just make sure you have a proper chat with them first before you hand over any money. Any decent agency will be upfront about what's realistic for your exact business and niche, instead of just throwing around promises about getting the #1 spot on Google for everything.
Anyway, hope that's helpful for someone. If you want, ask anything, and I'll add more detail on whatever parts.
