I recently completed my first long motorcycle tour , and wow—what an unforgettable ride it was! The Ride
I planned a solo 800 km route over 3 days. The journey took me through flat roads, twisting hills, and peaceful countryside. At some moments, it felt like I was riding through a whole new world every few kilometers—kind of like how Delhi feels different in every season . That's the beauty of India on two wheels!
What I Packed (And What I Missed)
What saved me:
- Riding gear (jacket, gloves, boots)
- Chain lube, tool kit, water bottle
- Power bank and phone mount
What I should've brought:
- Rain gear (got caught in a surprise downpour)
- Pain relief spray (knees and shoulders!)
- Gadgets for bikers — a Bluetooth helmet or trip recorder would've been great.
Key Lessons I Learned
- Leave early. Riding in daylight is safer and you'll enjoy the landscape better.
- Avoid over-relying on GPS. Sometimes, it sent me down strange roads. Locals saved me more than once!
- Hydrate and stretch. I stopped every 90 minutes for a sip and a stretch.
- Embrace the moment. Whether it was riding past snow-capped Himachal peaks at sunset or a chai stop in a quiet village, the little moments became the highlights.
A Few Surprises Along the Way
- I had a minor puncture in a remote area. Luckily, there was help just 5 km away. Always ask about nearest service stops when fueling.
- At one point, the fog in the hills was so thick, I had to crawl along slowly with hazard lights on. Felt like I was part of a moonlit scene in Spiti Valley .
