Pulmonary fibrosis is a disease characterized by the gradual formation and growth of scar tissue in the lungs. Scar tissue replaces healthy lung tissue, causing the lung walls to thicken and impair lung function. Symptoms of pulmonary fibrosis may include cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, weight loss and chest pain.
