It's Christmas Eve, and that means if you're anything like me you're probably still running to the store, fighting the crowds, and grabbing last minute gifts for somebody. But what about your favorite NHL team? Don't they deserve a little love, too? After all, they give you so much joy, anger, excitement and anxiety throughout the year that it's almost as if they're a part of the family. They need something for Christmas, too. And all of them have a nice wish list of both reasonable and completely unreasonable gifts. What do you get the team that has everything? Or the team that seems to be impo sible to shop for?Well, we have JaMychal Green Jersey some ideas for you. :That member of your family that is imposible to shop for, but maybe we can get them something for after is tough week and then . He really . : A nice 10-game losing streak so they can solidify their status at the top of the 2015 NHL draft, because let's face it, this team needs a Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel more than anybody else for any number of reasons. Finishing in 12th place in the West isn't going to do anybody any good. Short-term pain for long-term gain. : Somebody that can be a top-line, game-breaking offensive force. Somebody like ... . : The guarantee that the ping pong balls are going to bounce their way in May because it looks like they may not finish with the worst record in the league. A hot streak and too many other bad teams have really thrown a wrench into the plan. : A cloning machine that will allow them to get another -T.J Brodie defense pairing because they play like a playoff team when that duo is on the ice. They play like a lottery team when they are not on the ice. : Something to re-ignite . Throughout his career he has been a polarizing and often harshly criticized player but always a productive one. This season, though, things have completely tanked for him in Carolina. He has just one goal in 22 games and has found himself a healthy scratch. Even more concerning is the declining shot rate. Given the number of years and dollars still remaining on that contract, Carolina needs him to find the net (both in terms of goals and shots) way more than he has been. : What do you get for the team that has everything? How about some personal hardware, like a long overdue Selke Trophy for Marian Ho sa. One of the great failures of the NHL awards proce s in recent memory is how little recognition Ho sa has received as one of the best defensive players in the league. And he still is today. Yet, he has never received any serious consideration for the yearly award given to the NHL's best defensive forward and that just seems like something that needs to be fixed before he retires at some point in the future. : The defenseman they should have been looking (or working harder) to acquire over the summer. All of the young forward talent and goaltending in the world isn't going to mean much in the long run if you can't stop anybody. And the Avalanche have not been able to stop anybody all season. : A giant red flag when it comes to potentially re-signing . Nice player having a great season. But this is the perfect storm for somebody to hand out the type of contract that is instantly regrettable. A shockingly high 22.5 percent shooting percentage is driving a lot of that goal-scoring right now, and when that comes back down to earth (and it Luke Kennard Jersey will) you're back to having a 15-goal scorer that could be paid like a 30-goal scorer. : Defense might be a popular gift idea here, and for good reason, but they also need some secondary scoring. Tyler Seguin and are one of the best top-line duos in the NHL, but nobody else on this team has been capable of scoring this season on any consistent basis. has particularly had a brutal go of it in Dallas with only two goals in on 53 shots in 33 games. : A major addition on the blue line before the trade deadline. Reports of the Red Wings' demise seem to have been greatly exaggerated as they remain one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, especially now that and are relatively healthy and they have an emerging crop of young talent hitting the NHL. They are still lacking a little on the blue line and could use another defenseman to help bring everything together. : An end to trade rumors. This season has been tough enough for Oilers fans without having to hear about trading one of the few bright spots on the team. You want a Ky Bowman Jersey sure way to make things worse? Move your best player that still has not hit the prime of his career. : Some shooting luck. This might actually be a pretty decent hockey team. With and Aaron Ekblad leading the defense, playing well in net, and playing as a top-10 po se sion team in the NHL, there is an awful lot to like about this group. But their current 5-on-5 shooting percentage of only 6.53 percent is the third worst in the league ahead of only Columbus and Carolina. : Another year of compliance buyouts to get out of that contract. Richards still has value as an NHL player, but in a salary cap league you need more than what he is able to provide at this point for the amount of money he is still owed on his current deal (another five years and nearly $30 million). : Competent goaltending. The Wild are allowing the fewest shots per game in the NHL but are in the bottom half of the league in goals against because their goaltending has been a consistent Bob McAdoo Jersey me s this season. With their defense and combination of veteran star power and young forwards they might be on to something. But their current goaltending situation is wasting it all. : A better power play. The Canadiens are at the top of the Eastern Conference but a more dangerous power play could really help them out. They don't score. They don't generate shots. At some point you have to make somebody pay. : Some secondary scoring. , , and have been great this season, but does anybody else on this forward group scare you even a little? With their defense, goaltending a top-line play this is an interesting team, but it still needs some work. : Some young blood. The Devils are, by far, the oldest team in the NHL and it's not really working out. The worst po sible combination of being a bad team that is not getting any younger. : A nice Christmas bonus for general manager Garth Snow for having the best offseason of any general manager in the NHL, and one of the few that properly identified every weakne s his team had and doing what it took to fill them. : A better PR campaign for . Seriously. Never has a player so productive been so hated by so many for no reason at all. : A winning lottery ticket so they might actually be able to spend a little bit money so they are no longer at the bottom of the NHL in payroll. : . OK, maybe that is never going to happen, but of all the teams that need defense on this list, the Flyers might be at the top of this list. : Some health, because when they are not infected by mumps or suffering another injury they have the look of a team that is a serious contender to win the Eastern Conference. : Somebody to tell them , for as good as he is on defense, might actually be better at forward. : The return of and his continued health so they can take some pre sure off of and not have to rely on Martin Brodeur, who has at times looked every bit like the 42-year-old, rapidly declining goalie that he is. : A protective bubble for . When he is healthy, he has been outstanding and is a great last line of defense. But if he's injured, that's not really going to help anything. : Rodney McGruder Jersey Just a little bit of consistency so they can stop driving their fans nuts. The non-stop roller coaster of emotions that seems them look unbeatable for one stretch and like the worst team in the NHL for another stretch makes them one of the most maddening teams in the league. You just never know which Maple Leafs team you're going to get. : A long-term contract extension for . He is currently playing on a one-year, $2 million contract and he is absolutely outperforming it. No, he will not score a lot, but as far as defensive-defensemen go Tanev is one of the more underappreciated players going. Time to lock him up and make sure he stays in Vancouver. : The gift they have seemingly been asking for forever -- a real second-line center. : A healthy defense, because right now four of their top-five defenseman are out and they are still finding ways to hang around in the playoff race in the competitive Western Conference. A few more starts for might be helpful as well, and then maybe they can give their fans the ultimate gift ... a home playoff game.
