Active cooling systems incorporate components such as fans, pumps, or refrigerant-based systems to force the circulation of air or liquid coolant around or through the battery pack. This category includes liquid cooling, air cooling with forced convection, and hybrid approaches that combine both passive and active elements. Liquid cooling is one of the most widely adopted active cooling methods in high-performance battery packs, especially in electric vehicles. This method involves circulating a coolant—often a mixture of water and glycol—through channels adjacent to the battery cells. The liquid absorbs excess heat and transfers it to a heat exchanger or radiator, where it is then dissipated to the environment.
